The life and times of the Godfrey ten.

So you think you can dance?

I know I will offend some with this post right now, but I must speak the truth. I have been blessed with the cutest daughters in the world, not the USA, the world. Now that we are all on the same page I will continue. I remember when I first saw Alli as a baby, she was by far the cutest baby I had ever seen, I am not just saying that, I really really believed it. I could not believe how perfect she was, dark eyes, beautiful round face, long lashes and a smile that cut into my soul. For those of you that don’t know, Alli was our first child, not our oldest, our first. We got Dorian a few months after Alli had already stolen our hearts. There is a huge story there that I will share with you another time, but for now this about Alli.

A Godfrey tradition, the punch bowl picture.

From the moment she hit our lives, she was the star of the show. I had never ever seen a more dramatic, attention grabbing, scene stealing, cheesy ham in my life, and I loved it! It only made sense that she would find her way onto a stage, and she did from the moment she could walk without falling she began dancing, and she hasn’t stopped.

Now, me being the most excellent dad that I am, I have always strived to be involved in my kids life, usually by coaching sports etc. In Alli’s case, she played one year of t-ball, and some soccer, so I didn’t get to coach her much. Therefore, I felt it was my duty to offer to teach her some dance, my style of dance, popping-locking and a little robot. I have shown her many moves, and have also volunteered to donate my time to teach her dance classes at Vergine’s studio. She has told me Mrs. Vergine was very excited to have me instruct and I am just waiting for the call. Until then I will continue to stretch and work on some new routines, you know to keep up with this new crumping thing.

Well, now she is all grown up. Daddy is more of a driver than a daddy for the moment, and dance is at least 4 nights a week, with several performances throughout the year. I love to watch her dance and to see her perform, she truly is a natural and we are extremely proud. I gripe and complain about the cost and the driving and the trouble of dance, dance, dance, but the moment I see her step on the stage and see her light up, my eyes moisten a little and all the bad memories disappear;as I beam at one of my most beautiful daughters in the world.

This is a video of three dances Alli has performed the last couple of weeks. The first one was at the half time of a basketball game in a tournament here at CIA. I noticed there were a lot of teenage boys with their mouths hanging open and I was ready to smack em if need be. The last two dances were at a big pefromance this last weekend. The last one is a remix of the first dance, and that dance was voted the dance of the night, even over the odler girls!!! Would be nice if they won cash to help pay for dance.

    Hey Glenn!

I loved watching that. I coach a HS Dance Team down here in Seattle and I know I’ll miss them. But knowing that I can come up there and watch that is awesome! They are a very talented group! We’re excited to come up. Hope everything is going well for you and Tracy and the family. See you soon!

  3. I will make sure and tell Alli. Btw, if you want to go to their big show, it is while Tra and I will be gone. Alli is selling tickets for the show, you can ask her about it. It is a fun day out for my girls, so it may be a great mom/ daughter day for you. Shoot, Ty may like it too.
